People always think cabbage is a bit boring. That is until you put it with bacon and cheese.. This works great as a dish on its own or add a baked potato if you’re feeling hungry.
Start by frying an onion and a couple of cloves of garlic. Once they are soft add a sliced white cabbage, the pan your using will need to be oven proof and have heavy sides. Add about 50-100ml of water and put the lid on. Let the cabbage steam for roughly 10 minutes or until soft. In the mean time fry some bacon seperately and add it to the cabbage when the caggabe is soft.
Once the cabbage and bacon are mixed together add a splash of milk and stir, then top with breadcrumbs. The quickest way to make breadcrumbs is simply to grate frozen bread with a cheese grater. Then place on top chunks of taleggio or other soft cooking cheeses and oven cook for about 20 minutes at 170c. Enjoy!
